-
- OVERVIEW
- ========
-
- DTSetup installs DragText version 1.1 and enables your 6-week free
- trial of DragText's Extended features. It can be used later to
- uninstall DragText.
-
- A list of the files included in the archive file (DRGTXT11.ZIP)
- appears at the end of this file.

-
- INSTALL
- ========
-
- The main window displays your options for installing DragText.
-
-
- Install Paths
- -------------
-
- The default Source path is the directory containing DTSetup.
- DTSetup expects to find all of its files in this directory.
-
- The default Destination path is a subdirectory on your boot
- drive named \DRGTXT11. You can change this to any new or
- existing directory, including the source directory.
-
- Note: DTSetup can only create one new subdirectory.
-
-
- Program Objects
- ---------------
-
- DTSetup will optionally create a program object to run DragText and
- place it in your Startup or Desktop folders. If you choose both,
- the original will go in Startup and a shadow will be placed on the
- Desktop.
-
- Note: If your Startup folder already contains a program object for
- a previous version of DragText, you will have to delete it yourself
- because DTSetup has no way to identify it.
-
-
- Default Icon Source
- -------------------
-
- To avoid wasting your disk space, DragText files share a single
- icon. You can choose what will supply this icon:
-
- - a WPS Class: DTSetup will install the DTFile class. This is
- the better choice in most cases because it lets you associate
- DragText files with any editor, including the "Text View"
- provided by other add-ons.
-
- - a Program Object: DTSetup will create a program object for
- your text editor in the System Setup folder, associate it
- with DragText files, and assign it DragText's default file icon.
-
- Note:
- You can easily change the default icon regardless of which method
- you choose. For the WPS class, create an icon file named
- "MYFILE.ICO" and put it in your DragText directory. For the program
- object, drop your icon onto the General page of the program object's
- notebook.
-
-
- Install
- -------
-
- Press the Install button when you have made your choices. DTSetup will:
-
- - rename the files and copy them to the destination directory
- - create a program object for DragText
- - either install the DTFile class or create a program object titled
- "DT Editor"
- - place entries in your OS2.INI file to disable DragText for programs
- that are known to be incompatible with it
- - display some general information about DragText, plus warnings about
- that apply to your specific system
-
- DTSetup will advise you if it completes successfully. When you finish
- reading the information window, you can press its Close button and
- DTSetup will exit.
-
- If DTSetup encounters errors, it will also advise you. Pressing the
- message window's OK button will return you to the main window in
- case the error is something you can correct.
-
- After a successful installation, you can load DragText v1.1 and use
- it immediately, provided you do not have an earlier version already
- running. If so, you must remove the old version's program object
- from your Startup folder, then restart your system.
-
- Be sure to run DragText a second time to display its Options notebook
- so you can become familiar with its many features and view its online
- help. Have fun...

-
- UNINSTALL
- =========
-
- To remove DragText partially or completely, press the Uninstall button
- on the main window. The Uninstall window will appear, containing check
- boxes for the five items which DTSetup can remove from your system.
- Only those items which DTSetup can locate will be checked. They are:
-
- - Program Objects: the program objects for DragText that DTSetup
- created during installation. If you deleted these and later created
- new ones, DTSetup will not be able to locate them; you will have to
- delete them yourself
-
- - Entries in OS2.INI: this is always checked, even if there are none
-
- - DTFile WPS class: if you had this installed, DTSetup will deregister
- this class. It will probably remain in memory until you reboot.
-
- - DT Editor: the program object for your editor associated with
- DragText files, if you chose to install it. DTSetup will destroy
- this object and break any associations it had.
-
- - Program Files: this includes all of DragText's executables and
- documentation that are in the same directory as DTSetup. If this
- directory is empty after these deletions, it will be deleted too.
- DTSetup will not delete any files that you have created.
-
- DTSetup will advise you whether it was successful in removing the
- items listed above.
-
- Note: If you choose to delete all files, DTSetup will delete itself.
